🐤 Nug #1 — Introducing: Substack Chat 💬

Substack just released “Chat” which is a community tool like Slack or Discord but within the Substack app!

Today we are launching Chat, a new space for writers and creators to host conversations with their subscribers. Try Chat now: substack.link/chat

Here’s why I’m excited about it:

  1. I don’t have to ask y’all to join another Slack or Discord community 😅 I feel like I’m in Slack overload right now and I’m guessing a lot of you are too.

  2. Article comments don’t provide a great threaded chat experience, especially on mobile. To me this feels easier. Like texting!

  3. Most importantly, chats don’t have to be tied to specific articles! I’d like to start dropping product-related news and thoughts in Chat that I probably won’t write an entire article on. What are your thoughts on this?

I’m probably going to run an experiment for a month or so where I drop cool new products, beautiful product designs or interesting product articles in Chat. If you guys are down to clown, hop in there and introduce yourselves!

🐤 Nug #3 — Time machines DO exist!

Rewind will record your computer history, allowing you to effectively “rewind time” and even search anything you’ve heard, said or read on your computer in the past.

My first thought? What a major invasion of privacy!

But upon further inspection, everything is stored locally. So… pretty sick!

Excited to share what I've been up to at @RewindAI ✨ Rewind is a macOS app that fully utilizes the capabilities of Apple Silicon + Ventura to record everything you see, analyze it and make it searchable in real-time. rewind.ai

🔥 Shoutout to Chuck W. for the rec in the MPS Chat

🐤 Nug #4 — The Future of PKM

Honestly, this is what PKM (personal knowledge management) and TfT (tools for thought) nerds like me have been trying to brute force for years.

  • First, it was using the powerful search feature in Evernote.

  • Then it was hyper-structured organization in Notion.

  • Then it was back links and graph-based notes in Roam.

But tbh, we’re all still searching for the tool that’ll re-surface our own related thoughts for us in real time.

I give myself like 2 weeks before I start getting back into programming to build a custom PKM tool with GPT-3 that can contextually surface info from all my past notes & writing. Seems like a fun way to procrastinate. I promise I won't make a "How to Write with AI" course.

🐤 Nug #5 — Birds will be trolls.

Well… Twitter’s about to change. For the better or worse? Only time will tell. For now though… we all owe Elon $8 😅

To all complainers, please continue complaining, but it will cost $8
