Trying Something New

Twitter is a goldmine for:

  • exciting product updates

  • cool experimental features

  • hilarious tech memes

…and every time I find a good one, I want to share it with y’all!

So I’m considering sending out a short email each Friday that’s just 5 of my favorite product-related tweets from the past week to give you something fun heading into the weekend ✌️

This is a test run.

At the bottom of this email is a poll where you can let me know if you want me to keep going or not. I don’t want to clog up your inbox with something you don’t enjoy.

Okay… let’s dive in :)

🐤 Nug #2 — The art of product development

This tweet from Nathan sums up what Making Product Sense is all about — uncovering the art of product development. PMs love to talk about data and processes, but let’s not forget about the intangible bits.

Figma acquisition shows how hard it is to turn money into software. You'd think for $20B you could build something as good as Figma yourself, but you can't. Software is art.

🐤 Nug #3 — Canva drops a massive new product suite

This is a great thread from Turner on why Canva’s new product suite is so pivotal. They grew by catering to an underserved market and are now expanding into red ocean products, but this time with the support of a die hard fanbase.

A lot of people missed this last week: Canva just announced a suite of new products to challenge Microsoft Office + every other productivity tool. Here’s why I think this might be one of the most significant product announcements ever:

🐤 Nug #4 — Spotify launches audiobooks

Spotify has effectively conquered the audio landscape. Support for audiobooks was the final big puzzle piece. Sure, audiobooks are currently a nascent piece of their product experience. But if we’ve learned anything from their expansion into podcasting, they go hard. I expect to see them expand their content library rapidly.

Spotify Audiobooks makes so much sense, especially given Audible’s weird credit-based model. Going to be really cool when they combine it with my podcast listening data to recommend books that I’d probably like.

🙏 Moment of truth…

What do you think of this little experiment? Yay or nay?
